Overweight & obesity in Australia
The number of overweight people in Australia was increasing gradually between 1995 with 2005. This is causing serious health problems. Today about 60% of males were overweight or obese and about 45% of females were overweight or obese in Australia.
“Inactivity is one of the main reasons why two-thirds of men and over one half of women in the 45 to 64 age group are overweight or obese,” said Gavin Turrel , Associate Professor (Queensland University of Technology).
He also mentioned “being inactivity increase the risk of obesity, chronic disease, heart disease, diabetes, come cancers, arthritis and depression.” In fact, overweight and physical inactive people are apt to have such diseases.
To improve the situation, the experts recommend people exercises and activity.
